How I Share a Blog Post 10 different ways

As a Content Creator I’m sure you are across how to repurpose your posts to share multiple different ways, aren’t you?
Re-Purpose for More Eyes on Your Work
It takes a lot of time and effort to write a good solid post and then to only post it once on your website, or social media platform of choice is such a waste. It won’t be read by as many eyes, plus it might not find the write audience. So, as so many others have advised, repurposing a single blog post to be used multiple different ways is a creative and efficient use of your content. Plus it’s great for your SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) and you’ll be found by more sources which Google loves.
As an avid listener of Amy Porterfield’s podcast I loved her podcast explaining how to re-purpose a single blog post 10 different ways. You don’t need to be a course creator, or full-time blogger to follow these tips, any creative who posts a blog will get maximum benefit from repurposing your content.
So How Could you “Re-Purpose”a Single Blog Post?
1. Write a Blog Post
- The usual method for any writer/blogger is to write a blog post and post it to your website = 1 x USE.
Another 9 options to re-use content from your awesome blog post are:
2. Create a Video
- Either a tutorial video, or you speaking, works great.
- Upload to YouTube (be sure to include a Video Summary and the link to the Transcript (see no. 4 below), to link back to your website
3. Create a Podcast
- If you Podcast, use the Audio from the Video for your Podcast
- Depending on the software you use splitting out the audio from a video can be quite simple. I use Camtasia to record my video’s and split out the audio from there.
4. Transcribe your Video/Podcast audio
- Create a new page on your website and add the transcription for your video/podcast (adding as a separate page is great for extra SEO too).
- Reference the Video and Podcast and link back to your original Blog Post
- Create snippets from both the Video/Podcast Audio and use them in social media posts (see more below)
5. Create Facebook Posts
- with pieces from your original blog
- (this is the same for each social media – just mix up the images/video snippets to suit the platform)
- Re-use images from your Blog Post, or add new
- Post using Video snippets from the Video you made earlier.
6. Create Twitter Posts
- with pieces from your original blog
- (this is the same for each social media – just mix up the images/video snippets to suit the platform)
- Re-use images from your Blog Post, or add new
- Post using Video snippets from the Video you made earlier.
7. Create Instagram Posts
- with pieces from your original blog
- (this is the same for each social media – just mix up the images/video snippets to suit the platform)
- Re-use images from your Blog Post, or add new
- Post using Video snippets from the Video you made earlier.
8. Create Pinterest Posts
- with pieces from your original blog
- (this is the same for each social media – just mix up the images/video snippets to suit the platform)
- Re-use images from your Blog Post, or add new
9. Post to Medium
- ‘Tweak’ your original Blog Post for Medium where I publish to my publication Tech Savvy Creatives
- You can cross-post the exact same blog post from your website, but it looks great for your SEO if it’s not exactly the same.
- Update the Title and maybe tackle from a slightly different point of view if that works for you.
10. Email your List about your new content
- You can link back to your Blog, Podcast and or Video (or all 3)
Here is MY Blogging Process
- Write my blog post
- Always a Header Image
- Then 3-5 images for the post
- I usually create tutorials or demo’s about a Tech Tool or product for you, so I’ll include this in my Blog Post
- Then I have the words to use for snippets and social media posts
- Plus I have the words and what I want to demo for my video (and future Podcasts! Watch this space, by April 2020 I’ll have a podcast up and running for you).
- Create the images for my Blog Post
- Create the Video
- Transcribe the Video and Create a Video Summary
- The Video Summary will appear in the Blog Post
- The Transcription will appear on its own website page and link to both the Blog Post and Video, and the Podcast when that is live.
- Create Video snippets (usually 3 is my go-to amount, but feel free to create more if you have the content for it)
- You’ll use the video snippets in your social media shares
- I use SproutSocial to share my content and I really love how easy it is to use and manage when I’m scheduling everything in this checklist.
- Go through your Blog Post and grab text and images to share on Social Media
- Update your Social Media Post 1, Post 2 etc with this text/images
- Choose 1 or 2 for Video Snippets as well.
- Rinse and Repeat for your Social Media platforms. I like to use:
- Then ‘tweak’ your original Blog Post for Medium
- Did you know you can get paid for posting to Medium if readers read your posts and ‘clap’ for you?
- You can post the exact same post as you have on your website, but I find the SEO is more friendly if it thinks you have different content linking back to your website blog post. It doesn’t need to be completely different, just changing a Title and maybe the angle you are taking on the post.
- It’s totally up to you, how you approach this and I’ll be writing more about Medium in a future post.
- Take your snippets and blog posts text, images and video and create an email to your list
- It can be a single broadcast only on this blog post, or save a few up and create a newsletter
- Don’t forget if the post/video etc ties in with something you are selling add your CTA – Call To Action and see if you can gain some sales as well.
You can see how quickly you have created a raft of content from your single blog post and possibly are now getting paid for it too? Very Cool! And a very efficient use of your time by creating an additional 21+ pieces of content that can be scheduled over various days — giving you a constant voice out into the cyber world and feeding back to your website.
Of course, the addition of new ideas for content are only limited by your creative imagination.
